Chinese artist, Wei Jia, has studios in both New York and Beijing.
His artistic practice draws on Chinese cultural history and China’s relationship with nature and art. His work is a merging of abstraction and traditional Chinese calligraphy. He creates art through a multistep process of tearing, mounting, and painting with Chinese handmade paper, gouache, and ink.
Wei Jia’s abstract works appear spontaneous, but they rely on a careful structure. Line and rhythm work harmoniously together.
He has exhibited worldwide and his work is in numerous collections throughout the U.S, Europe and Asia.
