Janet Lage

Janet Lage’s energetic abstract pieces are loaded with writing (graffiti), color, form and expressionistic brushstrokes.

For Lage, the painting process is an alliance of language and image. The narrative is based on the changing dynamics of love and desire.

There is story telling, but partial stories.  She allows viewers to complete the story.

The work is informed by poems and songs. Rather than specifying exact locations, she finds her path is mostly influenced by people, relationships and the crazy things we do to get each other’s affection.

Lage’s has exhibited at museums nationwide.  Her work is in many important museum and public collections, including Aetna, CPI International, Stamford Hospital, Yale University Hospital and Pepsico.
