Carolanna Parlato

Carolanna Parlato’s paintings draw on memories and imaginings of color and light.

She pours her acrylic medium on the canvas, balancing the deliberate with the spontaneous. Through this delicate balance, somewhere between chaos and control, the paintings take shape.

Her work has an open quality and a tactile materiality, suggesting compositions that are constantly in flux.

Carolanna Parlato received her MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.

She has exhibited in numerous museums, galleries and venues such as the Drawing Center (NYC) Art in General (NYC), White Columns (NYC), Hunterdon Art Museum (New Jersey), the Brooklyn Museum, BRIC, the Dedalus Foundation Gallery at Industry City (Brooklyn, NY) and the Fullerton Art Museum (CA).

Parlato’s paintings are included in the collections of the Brooklyn Museum,  ArtBank Collection, US Dept. of State, Washington, DC, Public Art for Public Schools, NYC, the Francis Greenburger Collection, Islip Art Museum, Pfizer Inc. and many important private collections. She lives and works in her hometown Brooklyn.
